Biography
Richard Francis-Bruce is an Australian film editor. Born on 10 December 1948 in Sydney, he began his career at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, where he worked for 15 years on current affairs and drama programmes before moving into feature films.
He collaborated frequently with director George Miller on projects including Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), The Witches of Eastwick (1987) and Lorenzo's Oil (1992). His editing on The Shawshank Redemption (1994), Se7en (1995) and Air Force One (1997) earned him three Academy Award nominations for Best Film Editing. He has also edited The Green Mile (1999), Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001) and later films such as Divergent (2014).
Francis-Bruce was made a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2017 for his services to film production and the Australian film industry. He became a member of the American Cinema Editors in 1997.
