Biography
Tak Fujimoto (also credited as Takashi Fujimoto) is an American cinematographer born on 12 July 1939 in San Diego, California. He trained at the University of California, Berkeley and the London Film School, and began his career assisting Haskell Wexler before working as a second-unit cinematographer on the first Star Wars film (1977).
Fujimoto is known for his long collaborations with director Jonathan Demme, shooting eleven films including The Silence of the Lambs (1991) and Philadelphia (1993), as well as with M. Night Shyamalan on The Sixth Sense (1999), Signs (2002) and The Happening (2008), and with John Hughes on Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986) and Pretty in Pink (1986). He has also worked on films such as Badlands (1973) and the miniseries John Adams (2008). A member of the American Society of Cinematographers since 1997, he won a Primetime Emmy Award and received BAFTA and Satellite Award nominations.
