Biography
Dante Ferretti is an Italian production designer, art director and costume designer. Born on 26 February 1943 in Macerata, he began working in film in the 1960s.
He collaborated with directors including Pier Paolo Pasolini (five films), Federico Fellini (five films) and Martin Scorsese (nine films). His credits include production design on The Age of Innocence (1993), Interview with the Vampire (1994), Casino (1995), Gangs of New York (2002), The Aviator (2004), Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007), Hugo (2011) and Shutter Island (2010). He frequently works with his wife, set decorator Francesca Lo Schiavo.
Ferretti has won three Academy Awards for Best Art Direction, for The Aviator, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street and Hugo, and three BAFTA Awards.
