Biography
Joe Chrest is an American actor and academic. He was born on 26 May 1963 in St. Albans, West Virginia. He earned a BFA in directing from Marshall University and an MFA from Louisiana State University, and has served as an adjunct professor of film and television at the LSU School of Theatre since the early 1990s. He is a founding member of LSU's Swine Palace theatre company.
Chrest began his screen career in the early 1990s with roles in films directed by Steven Soderbergh, including King of the Hill (1993) as Ben and Schizopolis (1996) as Man in Parking Lot. He has appeared in numerous films and television series, including 21 Jump Street (2012) and 22 Jump Street (2014) as David Schmidt, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2 (2015) as Mitchell, and as Ted Wheeler in Stranger Things (2016–2025).
