Biography

Patricia Norris was an American costume designer and production designer. She began working in film in the early 1970s and received six Academy Award nominations for Best Costume Design, for Days of Heaven (1978), The Elephant Man (1980), Victor/Victoria (1982), 2010 (1984), Sunset (1988) and 12 Years a Slave (2013).

Norris maintained a long collaboration with director David Lynch, designing costumes for The Elephant Man and serving as both costume designer and production designer on Blue Velvet (1986), the Twin Peaks pilot (1990) and subsequent Lynch projects including Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992) and The Straight Story (1999). She won a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Costumes for a Series for her work on the Twin Peaks pilot. Other credits include Scarface (1983), Lost Highway (1997) and The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford (2007).

She died on 20 February 2015 in California, aged 83.
