Biography

Rodrigo Prieto Stambaugh is a Mexican cinematographer born in Mexico City on 23 November 1965. He trained at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica in Mexico City and is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers and the Mexican Society of Cinematographers.

Prieto has collaborated extensively with directors including Martin Scorsese and Alejandro González Iñárritu. His credits include Brokeback Mountain (2005), Babel (2006), The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014), The Irishman (2019), Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) and Barbie (2023). He received Academy Award nominations for Best Cinematography for Brokeback Mountain, Silence (2016), The Irishman and Killers of the Flower Moon.

In 2024 Prieto made his feature directorial debut with Pedro Páramo.
