Biography
Russell T Davies is a Welsh screenwriter and television producer. Born Stephen Russell Davies on 27 April 1963 in Swansea, he studied English Literature at Worcester College, Oxford, before entering television.
He began his career in children's programming at the BBC, writing series such as Dark Season (1991) and Century Falls (1993). Davies created the groundbreaking Channel 4 series Queer as Folk (1999), and later revived the BBC science-fiction series Doctor Who in 2005, serving as showrunner and head writer until 2010 and returning in 2023. He also created the spin-off Torchwood (2006) and wrote It's a Sin (2021).
His other credits include Years and Years (2019) and A Very English Scandal (2018). Davies received an OBE in 2008 for services to drama.
