Biography

Ruth De Jong is an American production designer and art director. She was born in San Bernardino, California, and studied painting and photography at Texas Christian University, earning a BFA in 2004.

She began her career in the art department, working frequently with production designer Jack Fisk on films including There Will Be Blood (2007), The Tree of Life (2011) and The Master (2012). De Jong made her debut as production designer on Manchester by the Sea (2016). Subsequent credits include Twin Peaks (2017), for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination, Yellowstone (2018), Us (2019), Nope (2022) and Oppenheimer (2023), for which she was nominated for an Academy Award. She also designed The Odyssey (2026).

De Jong has collaborated with directors including Paul Thomas Anderson, Terrence Malick, Jordan Peele and Christopher Nolan.
