Biography

Steve Arnold is an American production designer and art director. Born in 1953 in Seattle, Washington, he completed an MFA in scenery design for theatre at Carnegie Mellon University. He began his career designing scenery for small theatres before assisting established Broadway designers in New York, then moved into film drafting and advanced through the art department.

He worked as an art director or assistant art director on more than twenty feature films, including Forrest Gump (1994), Face/Off (1997), Unbreakable (2000), Spider-Man (2002) and Van Helsing (2004). As production designer he has collaborated with David Fincher on House of Cards (2013–2016) and Mindhunter (2017–2019), and designed series including Castle Rock (2018), Midnight Mass (2021) and Widow's Bay (2026). He has received four Primetime Emmy nominations.
