Biography

William Hoy is an American film editor. He has more than thirty feature-film editing credits since 1988, including Se7en (1995), I, Robot (2004), 300 (2006), Watchmen (2009), Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014), War for the Planet of the Apes (2017), The Batman (2022) and Superman (2025).

Hoy has collaborated frequently with director Zack Snyder on 300, Watchmen and Sucker Punch (2011), and with director Matt Reeves on the two Planet of the Apes films and The Batman. With Stan Salfas he won Satellite Awards for Best Editing for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes; with Tyler Nelson he received a Saturn Award nomination for The Batman. He is a member of the American Cinema Editors.

He has a sister, Maysie Hoy, who is also a film editor.
