Biography
Anthony Dod Mantle is an English cinematographer. Born on 14 April 1955 in Witney, Oxfordshire, he studied photography at the London College of Communication and later attended the National Film School of Denmark.
He was a key figure in the Dogme 95 movement in the 1990s, working on films including The Celebration (1998). Mantle has collaborated extensively with directors Lars von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg and Danny Boyle. His credits with Boyle include 28 Days Later (2002), Slumdog Millionaire (2008), for which he won the Academy Award and BAFTA Award for Best Cinematography, 127 Hours (2010), Rush (2013) and T2 Trainspotting (2017). He also shot Antichrist (2009) and Dredd (2012).
Mantle served as cinematographer on 28 Years Later (2025). He is a member of the American Society of Cinematographers, the British Society of Cinematographers and the Danish Society of Cinematographers.
