Biography
Claudine West was a British screenwriter. Born in Nottingham, England, she moved to Hollywood in 1929 and worked under contract at MGM, often contributing to continuity scripts, additional dialogue and screenplays, frequently in collaboration with others on prestige pictures with European or British settings.
Her credits include the screenplay for Smilin' Through (1932) and The Barretts of Wimpole Street (1934). She is also known for her work on The Good Earth (1937), Goodbye, Mr. Chips (1939), The Mortal Storm (1940), Mrs. Miniver (1942) and Random Harvest (1942). She won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay for Mrs. Miniver and received two further nominations.
West died in Beverly Hills, California, in 1943.
