Biography
Deborah L. Scott is a costume designer. She won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for Titanic (1997) and received a second nomination for Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025). She has collaborated repeatedly with director James Cameron, designing costumes for Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) as well as the earlier film.
Scott’s other credits include E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Back to the Future (1985) and Heat (1995). Her first film as costume designer was Don't Answer the Phone (1980). In 2023 she received the Costume Designers Guild Career Achievement Award. She trained in theatre design at California State University, Long Beach, after earlier studies at California State University, Northridge.
