Biography
Newton Thomas Sigel, ASC (born 29 August 1955) is an American cinematographer. He was born in Detroit, Michigan, and studied painting in New York City, where he became an artist-in-residence at the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Sigel began his career working with experimental filmmaker Kenneth Anger and later as a documentary cinematographer. His first feature as director of photography was Latino (1985). He worked as a second-unit cinematographer on films including Platoon before shooting The Usual Suspects (1995) for director Bryan Singer, beginning a long collaboration that included several X-Men films and Bohemian Rhapsody (2018). Other credits include Drive (2011).
