Biography

Philip Messina is an American production designer and art director. He was born on 19 February 1965 in Lawrence, Massachusetts.

Messina has worked frequently with director Steven Soderbergh. His credits include production design on Erin Brockovich (2000), Traffic (2000), Ocean's Eleven (2001), Ocean's Twelve (2004), The Good German (2006) and Ocean's Thirteen (2007). He later designed the four Hunger Games films (2012–2015) and mother! (2017). More recent work includes Kimi (2022), Heretic (2024) and Black Bag (2025).

He is married to set decorator Kristen Toscano Messina, with whom he has collaborated on several projects.
