Biography

Stephen E. Rivkin is an American film editor. He was born on 5 May 1955 in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Rivkin is known for his work as editor on the Pirates of the Caribbean series (2003–2007) and on several Avatar films directed by James Cameron, including Avatar (2009), Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) and Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025). He shared an Academy Award nomination for film editing on Avatar. He has also edited films for directors Norman Jewison and Gore Verbinski.

Rivkin is a member of the American Cinema Editors and has served as president of the organisation. He has also directed music videos and worked as an associate producer on two films.
