Biography
Bill Bernstein is a music editor who has worked on more than 60 feature films. His credits include The Shawshank Redemption (1994), The Green Mile (1999), American Beauty (1999), Finding Nemo (2003), The Help (2011), Bridge of Spies (2015), Spectre (2015) and Passengers (2016). He has frequently collaborated with composer Thomas Newman.
Bernstein began his career in the late 1980s as an assistant music editor and progressed to supervising music editor on many projects. He also has a small acting credit as the Testimonial Speaker in Woody Allen’s Crimes and Misdemeanors (1989). He studied mathematics at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
He received Grammy Awards for his work on the soundtracks of American Beauty and Skyfall, a technical Academy Award for developing the Streamline Scoring System, and multiple Golden Reel Awards from the Motion Picture Sound Editors.
