Biography
Gary Goetzman is an American film and television producer and actor. Born in Los Angeles in 1952, he began his career as a child actor before working as a music supervisor and producer on films directed by Jonathan Demme, including Stop Making Sense (1984) and The Silence of the Lambs (1991).
In 1997, Goetzman co-founded the production company Playtone with actor Tom Hanks. He has produced films including That Thing You Do! (1996), My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002), The Polar Express (2004), Mamma Mia! (2008), Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again (2018) and A Man Called Otto (2022). He has also received Primetime Emmy Awards for television work such as the miniseries Band of Brothers (2001).
