Biography
Ian McShane is an English actor. Born on 29 September 1942 in Blackburn, Lancashire, he trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.
He is known for his television roles as the title character in the BBC series Lovejoy (1986–1994), Al Swearengen in Deadwood (2004–2006) and its 2019 film, and Mr Wednesday in American Gods (2017–2021). For Deadwood he won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Television Series Drama.
His film work includes Winston Scott in the John Wick franchise (2014–present), including John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023) and Ballerina (2025), Tai Lung in Kung Fu Panda (2008) and Kung Fu Panda 4 (2024), and Blackbeard in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011).
