Biography
Luis Guzmán is a Puerto Rican actor. He was born on 28 August 1956 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, and raised in New York City. He graduated from the City College of New York and began his career as a social worker before moving into acting through street theatre and independent films.
Guzmán has appeared in numerous films, including Out of Sight (1998) as José 'Chino' Chirino, The Limey (1999) as Eduardo Roel, and Traffic (2000) as Ray Castro. He has collaborated frequently with directors Steven Soderbergh and Paul Thomas Anderson. His other credits include Boogie Nights (1997), Magnolia (1999) and Punch-Drunk Love (2002). On television he has played roles in Oz and Wednesday (2022–). He voiced Wart in The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (2026).
He received a Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for Traffic.
