Biography
Rashida Jones is an American actress, writer and producer. Born in Los Angeles on 25 February 1976, she is the daughter of musician Quincy Jones and actress Peggy Lipton. She graduated from Harvard University and began her career with roles in the television series Boston Public (2000–2002) and The Office (2006–2011), where she played Karen Filippelli.
Jones is known for her performances in Parks and Recreation (2009–2015) as Ann Perkins, The Social Network (2010) as Marilyn Delpy, and voice roles including in Inside Out (2015). She has also written for television and film, including the teleplay for the Black Mirror episode "Nosedive" (2016, co-written with Mike Schur) and the screenplay for the 2026 film The Invite (co-written with Will McCormack). Her other writing credits include the story for Toy Story 4 (2019) and the film Celeste and Jesse Forever (2012).
As a director and producer, Jones created the documentary Quincy (2018) about her father, which won a Grammy Award for Best Music Film.
