Biography
Robert Kalloch (1893–1947), often credited mononymously as Kalloch, was an American costume designer. He began his career as a designer of high-fashion gowns for royalty, the social elite and revue stars, working for the British couturière Lucile (Lady Duff-Gordon).
Columbia Pictures hired him in 1933 as its first contract costume designer and he established the studio's wardrobe department. His credits there include It Happened One Night (1934), The Awful Truth (1937), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), Only Angels Have Wings (1939) and His Girl Friday (1940). He later worked briefly at MGM before freelancing; he was posthumously inducted into the Costume Designers Hall of Fame in 2004.
