Biography
Davis Guggenheim (born Philip Davis Guggenheim) is an American director, producer and screenwriter. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1963, he graduated from Brown University and began directing television episodes in the 1990s.
His television credits include episodes of ER, NYPD Blue, 24, Alias and The Shield. In 2004 he served as director and producer on the first season of the HBO series Deadwood.
Guggenheim is known for his documentary work, including An Inconvenient Truth (2006), which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, It Might Get Loud (2008) and Waiting for "Superman" (2010). He is married to actress Elisabeth Shue.
