Biography

Lorne Balfe is a Scottish composer of film, television and video game scores. Born in Inverness in 1976, he attended Fettes College in Edinburgh on a music scholarship. As a child he wrote and sold jingles, and at thirteen he became the youngest member of the Edinburgh Symphony Orchestra as a percussionist.

A veteran of Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control Productions, Balfe has scored films including Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (2023), Argylle (2024), Bad Boys: Ride or Die (2024), Gran Turismo (2023), Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (2023), Top Gun: Maverick (2022) and Black Widow (2021). He has also composed for television series such as The Crown and Genius, the latter earning him a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music.
