Biography

Paul Giamatti is an American actor. Born on 6 June 1967 in New Haven, Connecticut, he studied at Yale University and the Yale School of Drama.

He is known for film roles including Simeon in The Truman Show (1998), Sergeant Hill in Saving Private Ryan (1998), Joe Gould in Cinderella Man (2005), Theophilus Freeman in 12 Years a Slave (2013) and Paul Hunham in The Holdovers (2023). He received Academy Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for Cinderella Man and Best Actor for The Holdovers. On television he played the title role in the 2008 HBO miniseries John Adams.
