Biography
Bill Conti is an American composer and conductor. Born in Providence, Rhode Island, he studied at Louisiana State University and the Juilliard School before beginning his career in Italy and moving to Hollywood in the early 1970s.
He is best known for his scores to the Rocky films, beginning with Rocky (1976) and continuing with Rocky II (1979), Rocky III (1982), Rocky V (1990) and Rocky Balboa (2006). Other notable film scores include The Karate Kid (1984) and its sequels, For Your Eyes Only (1981) and The Right Stuff (1983), for which he won the Academy Award for Best Original Score. He served as musical director for the Academy Awards a record nineteen times.
