Biography
Pietro Scalia is an Italian-American film editor. He was born on 17 March 1960 in Catania, Sicily, and raised in Switzerland. He received an MFA in film and theatre arts from UCLA in 1985.
Scalia began his career as an assistant editor to Oliver Stone and later became a lead editor on films including JFK (1991), for which he shared an Academy Award, Gladiator (2000), Black Hawk Down (2001), for which he won a second Academy Award, Prometheus (2012), The Martian (2015) and Ferrari (2023). He has maintained long-term collaborations with directors including Ridley Scott and Gus Van Sant.
