Biography
Jon Bernthal is an American actor. He was born Jonathan Edward Bernthal on 20 September 1976 in Washington, D.C. He studied at the Moscow Art Theatre School and received an MFA from Harvard University's Institute for Advanced Theatre Training at the American Repertory Theatre in 2002. He began his career performing in regional and off-Broadway theatre.
Bernthal first gained prominence for his role as Shane Walsh in the series The Walking Dead (2010–2012). He is known for portraying Frank Castle / The Punisher in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including in Daredevil (2016), The Punisher (2017–2019), Daredevil: Born Again (2025) and Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026). His film roles include The Wolf of Wall Street (2013), Fury (2014), Sicario (2015), Baby Driver (2017), Ford v Ferrari (2019) and The Accountant 2 (2025). He received a Primetime Emmy Award for his guest role in The Bear (2022–present). He also appears as Det. Jack Harper in the series HIS & HERS (2026).
