Biography

Alan Silvestri is an American composer, conductor, orchestrator and music producer of film scores. Born in New York City on 26 March 1950, he studied at Berklee College of Music and began his career in the early 1970s, initially scoring television including many episodes of the series CHiPs.

Silvestri has collaborated extensively with director Robert Zemeckis since Romancing the Stone (1984), providing scores for nearly all of the director’s feature films. These include the Back to the Future trilogy (1985–1990), Forrest Gump (1994), Cast Away (2000) and Here (2024). He has also composed for the Avengers films and other Marvel Cinematic Universe entries, as well as Predator (1987) and Ready Player One (2018).

Silvestri has received two Grammy Awards and two Primetime Emmy Awards, together with nominations for two Academy Awards and two Golden Globe Awards.
