Biography

Sydney Pollack (1 July 1934 – 26 May 2008) was an American film director, producer and actor. He was born in Lafayette, Indiana.

Pollack directed They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), Jeremiah Johnson (1972), The Way We Were (1973), Three Days of the Condor (1975), Tootsie (1982), Out of Africa (1985), The Firm (1993), Sabrina (1995), Random Hearts (1999) and The Interpreter (2005). He won Academy Awards for Best Director and Best Picture for Out of Africa. He also produced Presumed Innocent (1990) and acted in The Player (1992), Husbands and Wives (1992) and Eyes Wide Shut (1999).
