Biography

Benjamin Burtt Jr. is an American sound designer, film editor, director, screenwriter and voice actor. He was born on 12 July 1948 in Jamesville, New York, and studied at Allegheny College and the University of Southern California.

Burtt is best known for his sound design on the original Star Wars trilogy (1977–1983), the Indiana Jones films and WALL·E (2008). He edited the entire Star Wars prequel trilogy, including Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace (1999), Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith (2005). He has won four Academy Awards for his work.
