Biography
Ennio Morricone was an Italian composer, orchestrator, conductor, trumpeter and pianist. He was born in Rome on 10 November 1928 and died in the same city on 6 July 2020. He studied trumpet and composition at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome.
Morricone wrote scores for more than 400 films and television productions. He is known for his work on Sergio Leone’s spaghetti westerns, including A Fistful of Dollars (1964), For a Few Dollars More (1965), The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) and Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). Later credits include The Thing (1982), Once Upon a Time in America (1984), The Untouchables (1987), Cinema Paradiso (1988) and The Hateful Eight (2015).
He received two Academy Awards, three Grammy Awards, three Golden Globes, six BAFTAs and numerous Italian film awards.
