Biography
Robert Legato (born 6 May 1956) is an American visual effects supervisor, second unit director and director. He was raised in Asbury Park, New Jersey, and graduated from Ocean Township High School.
Legato worked as visual effects supervisor on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987–1992) and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (1993), also directing one episode of the latter series. He later joined Digital Domain and supervised effects on numerous feature films.
His credits include Titanic (1997), Apollo 13 (1995), Hugo (2011), The Jungle Book (2016) and The Lion King (2019). He has won three Academy Awards for visual effects and received a BAFTA award for Apollo 13. He directed the feature film Eloise (2016).
