Biography

Peter Lamont was a British production designer, art director and set decorator. Born in London in 1929, he began his career at Pinewood Studios as a runner and draughtsman in the late 1940s, later completing national service with the Royal Air Force before returning to the industry.

Lamont worked on eighteen James Bond films from Goldfinger (1964) to Casino Royale (2006), progressing from draftsman and set decorator to production designer from For Your Eyes Only (1981) onwards. He collaborated with James Cameron on Aliens (1986), True Lies (1994) and Titanic (1997), winning the Academy Award for best art direction for the latter. His other credits include Fiddler on the Roof (1971) and several Carry On films. He died in 2020.
