Biography
Mary Zophres is an American costume designer. She was born on 23 March 1964 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and graduated from Vassar College with degrees in art history and studio art.
Zophres began her career in fashion in New York before moving into film as extras wardrobe supervisor on Born on the Fourth of July (1989). She worked as an associate designer under Judy L. Ruskin and later with Richard Hornung. She took over costume design on the Coen brothers' Fargo (1996) and has since collaborated extensively with the Coens, Steven Spielberg and Damien Chazelle.
Her credits include The Big Lebowski (1998), Catch Me If You Can (2002), No Country for Old Men (2007), Interstellar (2014), La La Land (2016) and Babylon (2022). She has received four Academy Award nominations for Best Costume Design.
