Biography
Stuart Craig was a British production designer. He studied at the Royal College of Art and began working in film in the 1960s, becoming a production designer in the early 1980s.
Craig received Academy Awards for art direction or production design on Gandhi (1982), Dangerous Liaisons (1988) and The English Patient (1996). He designed the sets for all eight Harry Potter films (2001–2011) and the first two Fantastic Beasts films (2016 and 2018), often collaborating with set decorator Stephenie McMillan. He also worked on films including The Elephant Man (1980), The Mission (1986), Chaplin (1992), Shadowlands (1993) and Notting Hill (1999).
Craig was appointed OBE in 2003. He died on 7 September 2025.
