Biography

Janusz Kamiński is a Polish cinematographer and film director. He was born on 27 June 1959 in Ziębice, Poland, and emigrated to the United States in 1981. He studied at Columbia College Chicago, graduating in 1987, and later earned an MFA from the AFI Conservatory.

Kamiński has been the regular cinematographer for Steven Spielberg since 1993. Their collaborations include Schindler's List (1993), Saving Private Ryan (1998), Catch Me If You Can (2002), Minority Report (2002), War of the Worlds (2005), Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (2008), Bridge of Spies (2015), Ready Player One (2018), West Side Story (2021), The Fabelmans (2022), IF (2024) and Disclosure Day (2026). He won Academy Awards for Best Cinematography for Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan.
