Biography
Toby Jones is an English actor. Born Toby Edward Heslewood Jones on 7 September 1966 in Hammersmith, London, he is the son of actors Freddie Jones and Jennifer Heslewood. He studied drama at the University of Manchester from 1986 to 1989 and trained at L'École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq in Paris from 1989 to 1991.
Jones made his film debut in Orlando (1992). He is known for voice roles including Dobby in the Harry Potter films (2002–2011) and live-action performances such as Arnim Zola in Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) and Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Claudius Templesmith in The Hunger Games (2012) and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), and Basil Shaw in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023). He has also appeared in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (2011), Berberian Sound Studio (2012) and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018).
Jones won a Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for The Play What I Wrote (2001). He was appointed OBE in the 2021 New Year Honours for services to drama.
