Biography
J.K. Simmons is an American actor. He studied at the University of Montana and began working in film and television in the mid-1980s.
He is known for playing J. Jonah Jameson in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy (2002–2007) and later Marvel films including Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021), Terence Fletcher in Whiplash (2014), and Bill in La La Land (2016). Simmons won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for Whiplash. His other film roles include appearances in Juno (2007), Justice League (2017) as Commissioner Gordon, and Being the Ricardos (2021). In 2024 he played Nick in Red One and Harold in Juror #2.
On television he has appeared as Vernon Schillinger in Oz (1997–2003), Dr Emil Skoda in Law & Order, Will Pope in The Closer (2005–2012), and Howard Silk in Counterpart (2017–2019).
