Biography

Howard Leslie Shore is a Canadian composer, conductor and orchestrator. He has written scores for more than 80 films, including Ed Wood (1994), Se7en (1995), Mrs Doubtfire (1993), Philadelphia (1993), Naked Lunch (1991) and The Silence of the Lambs (1991).

Shore was born in Toronto and studied at Berklee College of Music. He served as the original musical director of Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1980. He has collaborated repeatedly with directors David Cronenberg and Martin Scorsese, and composed the scores for Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit trilogies. He has received three Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and four Grammy Awards.
